
ADVANCED BLACKSMITHING CLASSES
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Blacksmith 101
Level 1, 2, 3 and Open Forge require a coal fee of $30 payable to the Instructor on the day of class.

Level 1: BASIC
- Level 1 is a series of 12 projects that guide you through 15 different skills.
- Some of the skills include scrolling, tapering, forge-welding and heat treating.
- Must have completed Blacksmithing 101 or Youth Paired Blacksmithing satisfactorily and secured instructor's recommendation to be eligible.
- Required textbook is available at the Welcome Center (Museum Gift Shop/Office).
Level 2: APPRENTICE
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 1.
Level 2 is more technical with added intermediate to advanced scrollwork and a focus on tooling and collaring for Level 2 Grille certification.
Level 3: JOURNEYMAN
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 2.
Level 3 is held monthly as a grille workshop where techniques and tooling required to complete the CBA Level 3 grille to spec.
Open Forge
Prerquisite: Completion of Blacksmithing 101.
Open Forge allows students to come and complete their projects outside of the class. Available to current museum members who have completed Blacksmithing 101 or Youth Paired on any day that a class is held at the forge. Check in with an instructor upon arrival.
ELECTIVES
Several elective classes are held throughout the year that teach a project outside the CBA curriculum. More information can be obtained at the Vista Forge website.
BLACKSMITH EXPERIENCE
The "Blacksmith Experience" workshops are a great way to foster creativity and collaboration for your group. Participants will end the day with a finished project; no prior experience necessary. Contact Vista Forge to book your next team building event.
