What to look for at Fiber Arts Fiesta this year?

Vendors with unique yarns, specialist equipment, and materials for weaving, spinning, lace making, knitting, crochet, basket making, and more!

Fiber artists and guilds will be demonstrating their skills.

Keynote Speaker: Jennifer Miller. Sat and Sun 1:00-2:00. Spinners Cottage $10 Saturday.

Understanding and Cultivating Your creativity. Jennifer shares lots of ideas to help you honor and nurture your inner artist, stimulate inspiration, and express your creativity. Sunday. Bamboo. Everything you need to know about this versatile renewable fiber. Project ideas.

Artful Felt. Wet Felting with Lorrie Teates. 3 hours. Sunday 10:30am-1:30pm. Spinners Cottage Kitchen. $30. $10 Materials fee to be paid to instructor.

Wet felt a 12 x 18 rectangle to finish size of approximately 10 x 16 using merino wool and embellishments. Create your own book art cover. Finished artful felt can be made into any number of projects: envelope purse, framed picture, journal cover, bookmarks, pins or coasters.

Ice Dying with Maura White 1 hour plus 30 min after ice melts Sat and Sun 10:30 - 11:30. In front of Spinners Cottage. $15. $20 Materials fee to be paid to the instructor.

Enjoy a quick introduction to Ice Dying. Choose either an Habotai silk scarf (14 x 72) or a cotton warp ( 20 epi, 10” wide 3yds) for a table runner or scarf. You prepare the ice and add the dye than return to your shopping. You will be notified when the ice has melted and you can collect your project.

Needle Felting Trinket Bowls. 1.5 hours. Saturday 11:00- 12:30. Spinners Cottage Kitchen $20

An introduction to needle felting. Learn basic techniques of needle felting while creating a small trinket bowl.

Leftovers lecture with Barb Thomas 1 hour. Saturday and Sunday 2:30 - 3:30. Spinners Cottage. $15

Do you have a collection of warp end weavings or slightly flawed pieces of cloth. Barb will show you a variety of projects you can do using these pieces. She will include information on fusible stabilizers and resources of hardware and supplies for the projects. Participants will leave with a handout that will include a pattern for multiple sizes of a duffle and several other small projects as well as links for information and videos on topics covered in the talk.

Beginning Drop Spindle. Saturday and Sunday 10:30- 12:30 Spinners Cottage Front porch. $20. Optional purchase Drop Spindle and wool $15.

Instructors will guide the student through basic techniques to successfully spin wool with a top whorl spindle.

Please note: The Fiber Arts Fiesta takes place outdoors. Most of the booths will be set up on a lawn that is uneven in places. We suggest you wear shoes suitable for walking and perhaps plan to wear a hat.
AGSEM will be open all weekend, so you can see examples of mechanical ingenuity and crafts associated with the early days of the American farm and rural community; the Blacksmith & Wheelwright Shop, Short Track Railroad exhibit, and the Clock & Watch Museum will be open.
